Baseball Recap: Lincoln Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Lincoln came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Gilroy Mustangs get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Jayden Peters's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lorenzo Collazo was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Bernwanger, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Gilroy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will welcome San Jose at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilroy, they will be playing at home against Del Mar at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
