Football Recap: Damarius Yates' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kemper County over Heritage Academy

Kemper County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 37-27 to the Heritage Academy Patriots.

Kemper County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damarius Yates, who rushed for 183 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Murray, who rushed for 34 yards and a pair of scores.

Kemper County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Heritage Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Kemper County is headed away from home for the first time to take on Choctaw County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heritage Academy, they will welcome Copiah Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
