Baseball Recap: Taylor Takes a Loss

Taylor extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They came up short against the Tri-Central Trojans, falling 13-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 11-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Taylor saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Antonio Aiello, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That run marked the first that Aiello has scored this season.

As for Tri-Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Tri-Central's side, Brody Arnold made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Arnold has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Weston Enright, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Cline, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Coincidentally, Taylor and Tri-Central will both be playing Eastern the next time they take the field. The Titans will host the Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Trojans will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
