Softball Recap: Brooke Takes Down North Marion in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Brooke rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the North Marion Huskies 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.

Eden McKinney spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Brooke let Jazymn Wood and Marionna Dipaolo run wild. Wood went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Dipaolo got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Dipaolo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Diserio, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Brooke's victory bumped their record up to 7-19. As for North Marion, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.

Coming up, Brooke is taking a road trip to square off against Weir at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Marion does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
