Softball Game Preview: Sunset Apollos vs. Gresham Gophers

The Sunset Apollos will take on the Gresham Gophers in a tournament on Monday. Sunset will be strutting in after a win while Gresham will be coming in after a loss.

Sunset is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since April 8, 2024 on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past West Salem 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Apollos.

Sunset saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keana Cooper, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Jordan Pe?a was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Gresham unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 16-7 to Ridgeview on Wednesday.
