Football Recap: Battle Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Battle's offense. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 15-0 to the Smith-Cotton Tigers. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Armand Wright and Grayson Pottorff. Wright rushed for 101 yards and one TD while Pottorff rushed for 94 yards.

Battle's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Smith-Cotton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Battle will venture away from home to square off against Rock Bridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smith-Cotton, they will head out to face off against Capital City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Cavaliers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.83 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
