Preview: Olentangy Braves vs. Dublin Jerome Celtics
The Olentangy Braves will be playing at home against the Dublin Jerome Celtics at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Olentangy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 39-29 win over Marysville. Given Olentangy's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Marysville is ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ethan Grunkemeyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 412 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.1% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Grunkemeyer hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Andrew Leech, who picked up 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Dublin Jerome's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against Hilliard Darby by a score of 36-26.
Olentangy's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points per game. As for Dublin Jerome, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Olentangy strolled past Dublin Jerome in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a score of 35-20. Will Olentangy repeat their success, or does Dublin Jerome have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
