Baseball Recap: Plumstead Christian Triumphs

Plumstead Christian's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Church Farm Griffens an 11-0 shutout. Plumstead Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Declan Glass was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Plumstead Christian's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Michael Dear was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aaron Miller, who earned two RBI and one run.

Plumstead Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Church Farm, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plumstead Christian will take on Coventry Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Plumstead Christian is facing Coventry Christian at the right time seeing as Coventry Christian is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Church Farm, they will challenge Jenkintown at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Drakes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something the Griffens will no doubt try to take advantage of.
