Baseball Game Preview: Tradition Prep Pirates vs. Bayside Bears

The Tradition Prep Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Bayside Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Tradition Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Calvary Chapel Academy on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Bayside not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th. They put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 9-2 victory.

Elvin Pascaul made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Austin Still was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Bayside is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The win got Tradition Prep back to even at 5-5-1.

Bayside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tradition Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323.
