Softball Game Preview: St. Mary's Lancers vs. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers

The St. Mary's Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

St. Mary's can't be too happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Friday. They fell 7-3 to Nardin Academy.

Olivia Lange was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Ella Dovey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-1 to Satellite, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Scorpions since on Thursday.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleigh Schmoll, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
