Basketball Recap: Mishawaka Comes Up Short

Mishawaka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the South Bend Washington Panthers, falling 80-59. While losing is never fun, the Cavemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Panthers are ranked 47th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Bend Washington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Johnson, who went 6 for 13 to rack up 14 points and seven steals. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in assists (four). DaKori Parker was another key player, putting up 15 points and three steals.

Mishawaka's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for South Bend Washington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Coming up, Mishawaka will host NorthWood at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. As for South Bend Washington, they will head out to challenge Penn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Bend Washington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Penn likes a good challenge.
