Baseball Recap: West Ranch Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

West Ranch came out on top against Palm Desert on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Wildcats beat the Aztecs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 on Thursday.

Hunter Manning made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Manning wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Stoll, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave Stoll a new career-high.

West Ranch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Palm Desert, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-6.

Coming up, West Ranch will take on Crean Lutheran at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Palm Desert does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
