Softball Recap: South River Starts Season with Win at Home

South River gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Highland Park Owls 7-6. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 15-9 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Leigha Borusovic, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Castelhano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South River will take on Carteret at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Highland Park, they will challenge Mother Seton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
