Pleasant Grove is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Sheldon is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Pleasant Grove's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Franklin. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Madeline Lawson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Logan Paredes was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Brozaitis, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Pleasant Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Sheldon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cosumnes Oaks on Wednesday. The Huskies walked away with a 10-6 win over the Wolfpack.
Kwinci Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nicole Camacho-Vasquez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Harding, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Sheldon has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. As for Pleasant Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pleasant Grove has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sheldon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
