Football Game Preview: Ysleta Indians vs. Fabens Wildcats

Two dominant signal callers in Rodrigo Martinez and Jesus Martinez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ysleta Indians will challenge the Fabens Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ysleta is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Last Friday, Ysleta didn't have too much trouble with Austin as they won 43-28.

Ysleta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Martin Castro, who rushed for 104 yards and two TDs. Armando Guzman also helped out as he racked up 114 receiving yards.

Ysleta's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Austin's side was Ryan Lopez, who picked up a sack, made nine total tackles, and defended one pass.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Fabens challenged Austin on Friday. The Wildcats lost 35-14 to the Panthers. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ysleta will have to contain Ismael Rodriguez as he made an impact in Fabens' last game. He picked up 131 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Fabens' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Ysleta, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything came up roses for Ysleta against Fabens when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 64-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
