Baseball Recap: Troy Beats Cowanesque Valley for Their Fifth Straight Win

Troy waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Cowanesque Valley Indians 15-1. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Frank Harper looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Brendan Gilliland was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Smith, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Troy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cowanesque Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-4 record this season.
