Softball Recap: South Albany Drops Highest Score of Season Against Crescent Valley

South Albany took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Crescent Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redhawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Raiders 18-16. The Redhawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maddie Angel was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alicia Martindale, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Angel wasn't the only one making solid contact: South Albany kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for South Albany and bumps their season record up to 3-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Crescent Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.
