Preview: Guntersville Wildcats vs. Springville Tigers

After two games on the road, Guntersville is heading back home. They will take on the Springville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Guntersville can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 57-16 victory over Albertville. Given Guntersville's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Albertville is ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Springville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 victory over Pell City. Winning may never get old, but Springville sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Springville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mahlon Alverson, who rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns. Alverson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Jake Conner, who rushed for 104 yards on only eight carries.

Guntersville's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.4 points per game. As for Springville, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
