Softball Game Preview: Highland Rams vs. Olympus Titans

For the second straight game, Highland will face off against Olympus. The Rams will be playing at home against the Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Highland has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Highland's offense. They lost 25-0 to Olympus on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost eight in a row.

For Olympus' part, Charlie Turner looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Turner has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaedin Mugleston, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adi Comer, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Olympus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Olympus pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
