Softball Game Preview: Mineral Point Pointers vs. Deerfield Demons

The Mineral Point Pointers will challenge the Deerfield Demons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Mineral Point's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Boscobel 18-0. The Pointers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Deerfield's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Horicon. Fans of the Demons have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Deerfield pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Mineral Point, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Mineral Point skirted past Deerfield 6-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Pointers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Demons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
