Basketball Game Preview: Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs vs. South Garner Titans

The Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs will face off against the South Garner Titans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

South Garner will be up against a hot Southeast Raleigh squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 18. Southeast Raleigh breezed past Willow Spring to the tune of 70-19 on Tuesday. With the Bulldogs ahead 40-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Southeast Raleigh can attribute much of their success to Trinity Dunn, who posted 15 points, and Korryn Davis, who had 14 points. Dunn continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was A'Ziyah Trent, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, South Garner hadn't done well against Corinth Holders recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. South Garner simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Corinth Holders 68-41. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Pirates are ranked 177th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Garner is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points over those games. Southeast Raleigh pushed their record up to 25-1 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.

Southeast Raleigh beat South Garner 67-59 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southeast Raleigh since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
