Baseball Recap: Gila Ridge Takes a Loss

Gila Ridge had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-21 to make it seven. They lost 12-0 to the San Luis Sidewinders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Sidewinders this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-7 defeat on Tuesday.

As for San Luis, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

For San Luis' part, Jared Burgueno tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.1 innings pitched. What's more, Burgueno posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carlos Gonzales, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Arnold Jimenez, who earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Gila Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Luis, they will challenge Skyline at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
