Basketball Recap: Mesivta's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Mesivta entered their tilt with Pine Forge Academy on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They strolled past the Pine Forge Academy Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 60-41. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-32 back in December of 2024.

Leading Mesivta to victory were Dov Hirsch and Yisrael Epstein. Hirsch dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards, while Epstein posted 13 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Epstein continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Eli Friedman, who put up three points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Mesivta was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Pine Forge Academy lost, don't look at Jadon Lewis. Despite the final result, he had nine points along with six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Misael Butler, who posted nine points.

Mesivta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Pine Forge Academy, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Mesivta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-44 win against Girard College on the 12th. As for Pine Forge Academy, they will take on The City School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
