Softball Recap: Dover-Eyota Wins Going Away Against Plainview-Elgin-Millville

Dover-Eyota had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Saturday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Bulldogs. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Aubrey Foster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addison Hansen was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Ihrke, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Dover-Eyota pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Plainview-Elgin-Millville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.
