After a string of four wins, Nokomis's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights, falling 43-20. The Redskins were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Nokomis lost, don't look at Daryl Evans. Despite the final result, he rushed for 149 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Evans' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 106 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Herpstreith, who gained 110 total yards and a touchdown.

Nokomis' defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Coming up, Nokomis will host Cumberland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' defense has only allowed ten points per game this season, so the Redskins' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, they will take on Cerro Gordo/Bement at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
