Softball Recap: St. Anthony Bulldogs vs. Effingham Flaming Hearts

After a string of ten wins, St. Anthony's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 14-8 to the Effingham Flaming Hearts. St. Anthony was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Effingham apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Thursday.

Hailey Niebrugge made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Julia Schultz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

On Effingham's side, Sidney Donaldson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Kirk, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

St. Anthony's loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 22-3. As for Effingham, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

St. Anthony does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Effingham, they will head out on the road to face off against Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
