Baseball Game Preview: Gila Bend Gila Monsters vs. Ajo Red Raiders

Gila Bend has gone a perfect 10-0 against Ajo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Gila Monsters will host the Red Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Gila Bend is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Gila Bend was able to grind out a solid win over Heritage Academy, taking the game 11-6.

The team relied heavily on Easton Fernandez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Gila Bend: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Jesus Gomez was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Gila Bend hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Ajo was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 16-1 to A+ Charter School.

Gila Bend's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ajo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Everything went Gila Bend's way against Ajo when the teams last played back in March, as Gila Bend made off with an 11-0 victory. Will the Gila Monsters repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
