Softball Recap: Valencia Drops Season-High Score on Laguna Hills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valencia). They blew past the Laguna Hills Hawks 17-2 on Friday. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 6-1 win the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2018.

Valencia got a great performance from Katelynn Hildreth as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, Hildreth didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Nunez, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cadence Ledbetter, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Valencia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Valencia moved to 4-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Laguna Hills, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Valencia will take on Warren in a tournament on Saturday. As for Laguna Hills, they will take on Dana Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
