Chatham has gone 8-2 against William Campbell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cavaliers will take on the Generals at 5:30 p.m. Chatham will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Chatham's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They came out on top against Nelson County by a score of 3-0. The Cavaliers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The result came thanks to Corra Liggon's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayleigh Harmon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but William Campbell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over Nelson County. The win continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Governors: they've now won four in a row.
Peighton Francis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Francis was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lilly Puckette was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Kayla Hudgins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.
William Campbell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Chatham's record is now 2-4. As for William Campbell, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chatham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like William Campbell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Chatham's way against William Campbell when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Chatham made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
