Softball Recap: Decatur Red Raiders vs. Albertville Aggies

Decatur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Albertville Aggies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aggies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 back in March.

Mallie Hudson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Isabella Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Josey Hendrix, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Decatur's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Albertville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-10-2.
