Elgin entered their tilt with Southmoore on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the SaberCats by a score of 11-8. For the Owls, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the SaberCats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2017.

Graeson Nichols made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Elgin got a massive performance out of Ritson Meyer, who fired off two home runs while going 2-for-5. That's the most home runs Meyer has posted over his last ten matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Young, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Elgin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southmoore only managed nine.

Elgin's record is now 28-4. As for Southmoore, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elgin will host Lone Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southmoore, they will be playing at home against Moore at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
