Baseball Recap: Kenton Comes Up Short

Kenton had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it five. They fell just short of the Elgin Comets by a score of 9-8. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for Elgin, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

For Elgin's part, the team relied heavily on Peyton Zempter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Zempter is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Lykins, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kenton will square off against Ottawa-Glandorf at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elgin, they will take on Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
