Baseball Recap: Lubbock Takes a Loss

Lubbock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 10-1 to the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates. The Westerners were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Lubbock got a good showing from Andres Alvarez, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those two hits allowed gave Alvarez a new career-low.

At the plate, Lubbock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Toby Flores, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lubbock's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9-1. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.

While Lubbock had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
