Baseball Recap: Raymondville Comes Up Short

If Raymondville was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Santa Rosa on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Raymondville took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harlingen Cardinals on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearkats of the 9-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2020.

Raymondville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noel Reta, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Reta has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Raymondville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Harlingen, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raymondville will head out to face off against Progreso at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Progreso will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Raymondville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Harlingen, they will face off against Veterans Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give Harlingen their first taste of in-conference action this season.
