Softball Recap: Roma Comes Up Short

Roma came into this matchup off a tough 13-run loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots by a score of 9-7 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Gladiators have suffered since February 27, 2024.

Shaelyn Butler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayssa Barrera, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Roma is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Coming up, Roma will venture away from home to take on Nixon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they will welcome Martin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Veterans Memorial is facing Martin at the right time seeing as Martin is stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
