Softball Recap: Canby Cougars vs. La Salle Falcons
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Canby ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the La Salle Falcons 7-6. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Alli Hayzlett was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 13 hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Saucedo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kristin Vissers, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Canby hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.
Canby's record now sits at 17-5. As for La Salle, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-6.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Canby will face off against rival Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, La Salle is set to challenge their familiar foe Wilsonville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.5, the Wildcats 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
