Basketball Recap: Moshannon Valley Comes Up Short

Moshannon Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Bald Eagle Area Eagles, falling 57-34. The Black Knights/Damsels were probably out for revenge after losing 56-24 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Moshannon Valley lost, don't look at Troy Canner. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 13 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bo Washell, who posted five points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Moshannon Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Moshannon Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Bald Eagle Area, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-8.

Moshannon Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-31 loss against West Branch on the 13th. As for Bald Eagle Area, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-43 defeat against Richland on the 14th.
