Volleyball Recap: New Washington Comes Up Short

New Washington lost against Charlestown back in August and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Mustangs fell 2-0 to the Pirates.

While New Washington was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-23.

Ava Lathem paced New Washington's offense, picking up seven kills. Lathem got some help from Addy Lathem and her 11 assists. Finally, Maelyn Sarver kept New Washington's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Leading Charlestown to victory were Hadley York and Desi Witt. York had nine digs and four assists, while Witt had three aces and one assist. That's the most aces Witt has posted over her last five matches.

New Washington's loss dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Charlestown, with the victory, they broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 12-17.

New Washington has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against South Ripley on the 11th. As for Charlestown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Switzerland County on the 11th.
