Recap: Lake Weir Hurricanes vs. Belleview Rattlers
This season hasn't been kind to the Lake Weir Hurricanes, who are still winless after their 11th match. Their tough 38-16 loss to Belleview on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Lake Weir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 592nd, while Belleview is ranked 267th).
Aaliyah Armbrister continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Belleview, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Armbrister has scored at least a third of Belleview's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Briyanna Miles, who scored ten points along with seven steals.
Lake Weir's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.8 points per game. As for Belleview, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Coincidentally, Lake Weir and Belleview will both be playing South Sumter the next time they take the court. Belleview will head out to face South Sumter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Lake Weir will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
