Basketball Game Preview: M.L. King Lions vs. Forest Park Panthers

M.L. King is on a three-game streak of home losses, Forest Park an 11-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Saturday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the M.L. King Lions face off against the Forest Park Panthers at 12:00 p.m.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, M.L. King turned things around against Forest Park on Tuesday. They strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 37-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead M.L. King to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubriana Kirkland, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. What's more, Kirkland also racked up eight steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Jamoney Hayes was another key player, putting up four points in addition to 18 boards, seven steals, and seven blocks.

M.L. King smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 55 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Forest Park's loss dropped their record down to 1-21. As for M.L. King, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-20.
