Baseball Recap: Bellmont Comes Up Short

Bellmont extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They lost 15-3 to the DeKalb Barons. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Barons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Bellmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for DeKalb, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

On DeKalb's side, Brady Vince was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Vince has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Minehart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Bellmont will head out on the road to challenge Fort Wayne Northrop at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bruins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something the Braves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for DeKalb, they will be playing at home against Bluffton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
