Volleyball Recap: Columbian Tornadoes vs. Ross Little Giants

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Columbian and Ross, and Ross kept the tradition alive. The Tornadoes fell just short of the Little Giants by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Tornadoes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Little Giants apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Columbian sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-27, 25-17, 23-25, 15-8.

Kaela Jenkins paced Columbian's offense, picking up 22 kills. Jenkins got some help from Avary Brown and her 44 assists. Finally, Jenkins was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Leading Ross to victory were Brook Baacke and Hayden Dircksen. Baacke had 26 digs and three aces, while Dircksen had 22 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Baacke has posted since back in October of 2024. Breyelle Biller also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Columbian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Ross, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Columbian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Norwalk on the 11th. As for Ross, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Clay on the 9th.
