Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Academy Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when St. Mary's Academy faced off against Destrehan on Monday. The St. Mary's Academy Cougars were outmatched by the Destrehan Wildcats and fell 64-27. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Wildcats are ranked 41st).

St. Mary's Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Destrehan, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

St. Mary's Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-25 defeat against Riverdale on the 14th. As for Destrehan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Ascension at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
