Volleyball Recap: Pendleton Falls Short Against Ranked Burns

Pendleton faced Burns in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Buckaroos fell 3-1 to the Hilanders. The Buckaroos have struggled against the Hilanders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

While Burns got the win, Pendleton sure made them earn it: two sets took extra rallies. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 23-25, 25-16, 28-26.

Leading Burns to victory were Bailey Temple and Amaya Ballard. Temple had 29 digs and two assists, while Ballard had 23 digs, 17 kills, and three aces. Ballard is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Taylor Trent also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Pendleton's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Burns, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Looking ahead, Pendleton will welcome The Dalles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Burns, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Junction City on the 13th.
