Volleyball Recap: Allen East Comes Up Short

Allen East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Allen East started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 15-25, 25-18, 25-17, 16-14.

Aleena Nickles paced Allen East's offense, picking up 14 kills. Nickles got some help from Olivia Jones and her 22 assists. Ella Downing controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Allen East's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Lima Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Allen East is set to challenge their familiar foe Columbus Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lima Central Catholic will take on rival Lincolnview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
