Football Game Preview: Los Fresnos Falcons vs. Edinburg Bobcats

The Los Fresnos Falcons will take on the Edinburg Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Los Fresnos comes in on four and Edinburg on three.

Los Fresnos is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Pharr-San Juan-Alamo 66-16. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Robert Pineda went supernova, rushing for 22 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Pineda is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Stachowiak, who rushed for 74 yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, Edinburg got the win against Edcouch-Elsa on Thursday by a conclusive 35-10.

Los Fresnos better keep an eye on Aidden Sanchez. He was instrumental in Edinburg's win, throwing for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 33 yards. Those two passing touchdowns gave Sanchez a new career-high.

Edinburg didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Edcouch-Elsa to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Bobcats weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.

Edinburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Moises Hernandez, Isaiah Cisneros, and David De La Garza picked up one apiece.

Edinburg's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Los Fresnos, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Los Fresnos took their victory against Edinburg in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 38-14 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
