Basketball Recap: Sunnyside Comes Up Short

Sunnyside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cholla Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Chargers are ranked 24th).

It was another big night for Cyree Jenkins, who went 6 of 14 en route to 18 points along with six assists and three steals for Cholla. The match was Jenkins' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Standifer, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 14 points.

Sunnyside's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Cholla, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Sunnyside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 93-73 defeat against Mica Mountain on the 19th. As for Cholla, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-49 win against Poston Butte on the 18th.
