Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for San Mateo

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but San Mateo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past the Milpitas Trojans with a 51-47 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bearcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Trojans are ranked 121st).

The win made it two in a row for San Mateo and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Milpitas, they moved to 6-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Mateo will be home for the holidays to greet Menlo-Atherton at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Milpitas, they will be taking part in a tournament against Independence at 8:00 p.m. on December 27th.
