Soccer Game Preview: Lewisburg vs. Hernando

The Lewisburg Patriots will square off against the Hernando Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewisburg will be strutting in after a win while Hernando will be coming in after a loss.

Hernando is hoping to do what East Central couldn't on Friday: put an end to Lewisburg's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Lewisburg's defense stepped up to hand East Central a 2-0 shutout. Two seems to be a good number for the Patriots as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Mia Cagle and Larkyn Griffin scored both of Lewisburg's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 20 goals.

Meanwhile, Hernando faced Tupelo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Hernando fell just short of Tupelo by a score of 2-1. The Tigers were red-hot offensively headed into the game (they scored no less than four goals in the three matches prior) but the Golden Wave's defense proved too tough.

Hernando moved to 8-4-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Lewisburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
