Enterprise and Red Bluff are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Red Bluff took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Enterprise, who comes in off a win.
Enterprise will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points last Friday, then bounced right back against Shasta on Friday. The Hornets snuck past the Wolves with a 34-28 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Hornets' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.
Enterprise's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Koby Johnson, who gained 315 total yards and four touchdowns, and Izaiah Mikell, who rushed for 106 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Johnson got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 65 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Enterprise was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 347 rushing yards. They are 3-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Meanwhile, Red Bluff suffered their closest defeat since October 18, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Foothill by a score of 21-19. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Enterprise will need to focus on slowing down Mason Lyford, one of several Red Bluff players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 50 yards and one touchdown. An impressive showing, but Lyford really ramped things up playing D: he made 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss) and defended one pass. Red Bluff also got help from Jackie Graves, who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.
Even if they lost, Red Bluff's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Bryce Owens was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Another thorn in Foothill's side was Jaret Bridwell, who made 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Red Bluff's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Enterprise, their record is now 3-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Enterprise has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 242.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Red Bluff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 159.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Enterprise was taken down by Red Bluff 41-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
